Charles F. “Chuck” Ward, Jr. 80, of St. Albans went Home to be with Lord on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Hubbard Hospice House.
Chuck was the son of the late Charles F. and Mildred Ward and was born on January 27, 1946, in Decota, WV. He was also preceded in death by his two brothers Eugene and Bobby, and his sister Shirley.
Chuck attended East Bank High School and then his family moved to Cleveland, OH and he was 1963 graduate of East High School in Cleveland. In 1966, Chuck made the decision to become a US Marine and proudly served his country from April 1966 to April 1969. He was a Viet Nam veteran, a member of the VFW Post 6418 in St. Albans, St. Albans Post 73 of the American Legion, and the Viet Nam Veterans of America in Charleston. He retired from Goldfarb Electric in Charleston. He loved to sing Karaoke and Dance. He and June attended St. Peter’s United Methodist Church in St. Albans.
Chuck is survived by his loving wife of 26 years June Burgess Ward, sisters Esther Taylor and Carolyn Ward, nieces and nephews, his beloved dog “Tizzy”, and a host of friends and fellow veterans.
A Celebration of Chuck’s life will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at 1:00 pm at Cooke Funeral Home, Nitro. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:00 pm. There will be Military Honors immediately after the service at the funeral home on Wednesday. Private entombment will be in Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens, Glasgow, WV
