Edward Arthur Engstrom, 68, of West Virginia, passed away surrounded by the love of his family. Born July 18, 1958, in East Moline, Illinois, Ed was a devoted husband, father, Poppy, brother, and friend.
Ed spent many years attending and serving at Maranatha Fellowship Church in St. Albans. In his final days, he opened his heart back up to the Lord, finding peace in his faith.
An avid fisherman, Ed found some of his happiest moments on the water, spending countless hours fishing and making memories with his brother-in-law and dear friend, Donnie Edwards. He was a hardworking man who retired from Frito-Lay after years as a diesel mechanic, if something was broken, people knew they could count on Ed to figure it out. Throughout his career and life, he made countless friends, earning the respect and admiration of everyone who knew him.
While he was known for his ability to fix engines and solve problems, the greatest thing Ed ever built was his family. He loved deeply, even if he didn’t always put it into words. He showed his love through his actions—by working hard, providing for those he loved, showing up when he was needed, and always being someone his family could count on.
To Cindy, he was a devoted husband and best friend for over four decades. Through life’s highs and lows, they stood side by side, creating a lifetime of memories together. Their love was steady, faithful, and enduring.
To Brandon and Brandi, he was simply Dad—a protector, a provider, and a source of strength. He taught by example the value of hard work, perseverance, and loyalty. His children knew they could always turn to him, and they will carry his lessons and love with them for the rest of their lives.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 41 years, Cindy; his children, Brandon Edwards and Brandi Caudill, and son-in-law Seth Caudill; and his grandchildren, Camden, Ayden, Clark, Dalton, and Wade, who knew him as their beloved Poppy. Ed is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Sue Hoffman; brother, Tom Engstrom; and his special great-nephew, Cayden Lee Saekoo.
Ed will be remembered for his humor, his hardworking spirit, his love of the outdoors, and most of all, the love he gave his family. His memory will live on in every story, every fishing trip, and every moment his family carries him in their hearts.
