Joann Naylor
Joann Naylor, age 89, of Elkview went to be with the Lord and her beloved husband of 69 years DeWayne on Saturday, August 15, 2026 at Putnam Center Nursing Home Teays Valley.
She loved her extended family and was dedicated to her many nieces and nephews. She raised her niece Leslie Burch with the help and support from her husband Walter DeWayne. Joann remembered all her nieces and nephews birthdays and special occasions. She enjoyed traveling, taking many cruises and trips. She was dedicated to the community by spearheading the “Extreme Country Line Dancing ” for many years.
She was an especially fine homemaker, seamstress and cook and shared her culinary treats with family and neighbors. Joann enjoyed sewing and crafts and tending her beautiful garden. Throughout her lifetime she gave many dogs and cats a good home. Upon graduation from Elkview High School she began a long career with the C and P telephone company.
She is preceded in death by her husband Walter DeWayne Naylor, mother and father Dora and Edward Conn, sisters Ida Baker, Carol Wood, brothers Wilbur Conn and Ronald , Dalton and Richard Kinder.
Joanne is survived by her brother William Conn, nieces Sharon Barr, Paula Conn, Leslie Burch, Fawn Ellis, Annette Legget and nephew Mark Earley and several great and great great nieces and nephews.
The family wants to thank the staff at Putnam Center Teays Valley Center for their dedicated care of Joanne during her final days.
Service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, August 31, 2026 at Hafer Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Harper officiating.
Public visitation from 10 am – 11 am.
Burial will follow at the Donel C Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery in Dunbar, WV.
