Doris Jean (Salisbury) Townsend 85, of Charleston entered her heavenly rest on October 12, 2026, at home after a short illness. Jean was a retired salesclerk at JC Penney in Charleston, WV.
Jean was born on August 17, 1941, to the late Russell and Velma (Gram) Salisbury of Clay. In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Bernard Allen Townsend; her siblings, Ernest Larry Salisbury, Harold Salisbury and Janet Huff.
Left to cherish her memory are her nieces and nephews; Ernest Larry Salisbury, Jr. of Arizona, Linda Pearson, Renee Huff and Robert Huff, she is also survived by great nieces and nephews, Eli Huff, Felix Sanchez, Junaida Al-Tikrity, Jessica Huff, Jordan Huff, Jocelyn Huff, Janessa Huff, as well as special cousins and family whom she also treasured.
A graveside service will be at 1:00pm on Friday, October 16, 2026, at Elk Hills Memorial Park in Big Chimney with Pastor Randy Ledsome officiating.
Visitation will be from 12:30pm-1:00pm on Friday, October 16, 2026, at Elk Hills Memorial Park.
