Darlena Jean “Jeani” Leighton, 70, of Nitro, West Virginia, passed away on October 28th, 2026 at Hubbard Hospice House after a long illness. She was born in Franklin County, Ohio on December 27, 1955 to the late Gerald and Violet Whittington.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her nephew, Matthew Harris.
She is survived by her husband, Robert “Bob” Leighton, her 4 siblings, Earl (Ashley) Whittington, Dianna Santamaria, Jerry “Bub” (Pam) Whittington, and Glenn “Eddie” Whittington, her 2 children, Tami (Daniel) Crewdson, and Jeri (Mike) Gould, her 4 grandchildren, Taylor (Amanda) Crewdson, Michael Parog, Caylin (Chance) Perry, and Trinity Gould, and her only great grandchild, Anakin Perry. She was also survived by step children, step grandchildren, step great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, friends, family and the “Woohoo Crew” at the Dunbar Bingo Hall.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later time.
