Deborah Ann Compton, 77, of Poca, WV, passed away peacefully in her home on November 4th after a decades-long battle with Multiple Sclerosis.
Deborah is preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years David Compton, her parents Ballard and Lucille Faulkner, and her brother Ted Faulkner. She is survived by her daughter Caryn Compton (Nathan Dodd), and her brother Warren Faulkner (Becky). She was a member of King’s Way Christian Church.
Deborah graduated with degrees in Physical Therapy and Nursing from the University of Kentucky and Morris Harvey College.
Deborah was tireless in her commitment to helping her patients heal and mentoring her staff at Charleston Area Medical Center physical therapy department. Her care for patients was second only to her love of animals. Her quiet strength and Christian love were both boundless. Her patience was inexhaustible and her disposition was always sunny, even through forty years of illness. Her generosity extended to too many charities to name, both locally and globally.
She loved Christmas, so much so that her Christmas tree was up three days after Halloween this year. She loved Hallmark movies, craft fairs, the color purple, and University of Kentucky basketball.
Donations to Little Victories Animal Rescue are requested in lieu of flowers.
A tribute to the life of Mrs. Deborah Compton will be 7:00 PM Monday November 9, 2026, at Gatens-Harding Funeral Home Chapel with Pastors George Webb and Gene Brooks officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home.
