Jessica White - Preast

Jessica Nicole (White) Preast, a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on March 14, 2026. Born on October 21, 1980, in Charleston, WV, Jessica graced the world with her presence for 45 beautiful years. Her life, though taken too soon, was filled with love, laughter, and an unwavering dedication to those around her.

Jessica was the cherished daughter of Archie and Kathy White, who have supported her throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Clifford Osborne; her maternal uncle, Arlie Osborne; her paternal grandparents, Archie M. White, Jim and Edna Bowles; and her grandparents-in-law, Bryce and Alice Marie Legg, whose memories she held close to her heart.

Jessica’s life was a testament to love and commitment, embodied in her nearly 19-year marriage to her devoted husband, Mark Preast. They were married on July 7, 2007, in Clay, WV, and together they built a life centered around family and shared dreams. Their love brought forth a son, Gavin Preast, born on December 9, 2010, who was the light of Jessica’s life and whom she adored beyond measure.

A proud graduate of Clay County High School, Class of 1999, Jessica pursued her passion for justice and advocacy by earning an associate degree in paralegal studies from West Virginia University Institute of Technology in 2001. She dedicated nearly 25 years to her career as a paralegal in Charleston, WV, where her professionalism and dedication left a lasting impact on her colleagues and clients alike.

Outside of her professional life, Jessica was an active member of Sand Run Gospel Tabernacle in Elkview, WV, where her faith and kindness were pillars of her community involvement. She also selflessly served as a volunteer firefighter with the Lizemores Volunteer Fire Department, embodying her deep-seated desire to help others.

Jessica’s spirit was one of adventure and joy. She loved to travel, creating cherished memories during visits to the Inn at Christmas Place in Pigeon Forge, TN, and on spontaneous road trips to see family in Chicago, IL, and Cleveland, OH. Her love for life was evident in her enthusiasm for dressing up and attending rodeos, with anything cow print being a particular favorite. Jessica’s artistic flair shone through her elaborate holiday decorations, both at home and in her office, bringing warmth and joy to all who saw them.

To those who were fortunate enough to know Jessica, she was a beacon of light. Her magnetic personality drew people in, and she had a unique ability to make everyone feel like a friend. Known for her generosity and kindness, Jessica was always ready to lend a helping hand, often taking on the role of a second mother to many children in her life. Her radiant smile and warm presence will be dearly missed but never forgotten.

Jessica is survived by her loving husband, Mark; her treasured son, Gavin; her devoted parents, Archie and Kathy; her sisters, Jennifer Waseleski and Tiffany White; her nephew, Michael Waseleski II; her niece, Ariel Waseleski; her brother-in-law, Mike Waseleski; and her parents-in-law, Junior and Nancy Preast. Her legacy of love and kindness will continue through them and all who knew her.

Visitation will be from 12-1 p.m. on March 28, 2026, at Elkview Middle School, located at 5090 Elk River Rd, Elkview, WV 25071. A Celebration of Life service will begin at 1 p.m. Her family invites all who knew her to join in remembering the joy and light she brought to this world.

An educational fund has been created for her son, Gavin. Donations can be made by check payable to “Smart 529 for the benefit of Gavin Preast” and mailed to The Poca Valley Bank, P.O. Box 56, Walton, WV 25286.

In the words of Fred Rogers, “Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.” A sentiment that perfectly encapsulates the essence of Jessica’s life and her enduring legacy of compassion and service.

May her beautiful soul rest in eternal peace
