Mr. Tony A. Engle, 75, of Poca, formerly of Clendenin, passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2026 in WVU Medicine-Thomas Memorial Hospital.

Tony was a 1969 graduate of Herbert Hoover High School and a member of First Baptist Church in Eleanor. He was the retired owner of Engle Excavating, a lifetime member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local #132, a member of the United Mine Workers, and a 32nd Degree Master Mason with Clendenin Lodge #126.

Tony enjoyed woodworking, but above all, he loved spending time with his family. He was also a strong believer in organ donation.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thurston and Pearl Engle; and his son, Tony Steven Engle.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 25 years, Sandy Engle; children, Travis (Tonya) Engle, Michael Fisher, and Merilee “Lucy” Fisher; sisters, Marsha Larch, Debbie Peters, and Vicki (Ernie) Adkins; grandchildren, Corey Engle, Alex Engle, Harley Engle, Alyssa Engle, Thurston “Sully” Engle, Zach Hutchinson;, Myca Fisher, and Ryan Fisher; along with several great-grandchildren.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the WVU Medicine-Thomas Memorial Hospital ICU Team and Duke Health of Durham, North Carolina, for the wonderful care and compassion shown to Tony and his family.

A tribute to the life of Tony will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Gatens-Harding Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor David Panaro, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Haven of Rest Memory Gardens, Red House. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Saturday at the funeral home.
