Pamela Jean (Miller) Mace, 73, of Sand Ridge, West Virginia, peacefully passed away on June 1, 2026, after a brief illness with her three sons by her side.

She was born on September 19, 1952, in Spencer, WV, to the late Leonard Newton Miller and Mary Miller Greenlee. Pam and her late husband, Deo, were married for 36 years and called Sand Ridge, WV, home.

Pam spent the majority of her life deeply involved with horses and was proud and honored to be recognized as a 50-year breeder of American Quarter Horses. She had a deep love for all animals, but horses were her passion. She had a knack for trading horses and was known for driving a hard bargain, up until the very end.

She found great joy in tending and harvesting fresh vegetables from her garden, and her love of the outdoors was reflected in her day-to-day life.

She was thankful to the Lord that he allowed her to raise 3 wonderful boys, of whom she was incredibly proud. Through them, she gained two beloved daughter-in-laws and a granddaughter, who shares her grandma’s love of animals and, of course, horses. Being a grandma brought Pam immense joy. She loved being a grandma, and she was the best grandma.

Pam always wore a smile and had a unique way of either making you laugh or shake your head. She had a home remedy for everything, be it people or animals, and was never shy about sharing her advice. She was willing to help anyone in need and never met a stranger. She loved her family and treasured every moment spent with them. Time spent together was filled with stories to be told, laughter to be had, and now memories that will last a lifetime.

In her final days, Pam wanted nothing more than to know she would be remembered by those who knew and loved her most. In the end, she was at peace, and heaven was a welcomed relief.

Her legacy will continue through the lives she touched, the friends she made, and the family who will forever hold her close in their hearts.

Pam is survived by her 3 sons, Nathan (Cassie) Mace of Grayson, KY; Walter (Colette) Mace of Cutler, OH; Richard Mace of Sand Ridge, WV; 1 granddaughter, Macie Ann Mace of Cutler, OH; sisters, Trina Cross and Charlotte Pettry; brother, Thomas Miller; sister-in-law, Helen June Mace, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins, many close friends, and 2 lifelong friends, Luana Williams and Melody Wilkins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Deo Darrell Mace; sister, Christine “Chris” Cox; brother, Lenny Miller; 1 infant daughter, Jennifer Mace; and sister-in-law, Elma Jean Mace.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Parkersburg Care Center for the care they provided to Pam and her family throughout her time there and to Mandy Butcher for her unwavering advocacy, support, and dedication to Pam and her family. Your kindness and care meant more to Pam and her family than words could adequately express. A special thank you to Leroy Barnes for selflessly brightening Pam’s day through song whenever she’d ask. You brought her great joy, comfort, and many smiles.

To everyone who visited, called, sent messages, offered prayers, and showed their support during this difficult time, your kindness, compassion, and presence brought comfort to Pam and her family, and your thoughtfulness will always be remembered and deeply appreciated.

Per her wishes, there will be no funeral or service. The family will have a celebration of life at a later date. Donations can be made in her honor to the Roane County Humane Society, 2550 Parkersburg Road, Spencer, WV, 25276.

Stump Funeral Home & Cremation, Inc., 1440 Arnoldsburg Road, Arnoldsburg, WV 25234, is honored to serve the Mace family.
