Mrs. Nellie Gay Smalley Gautier, 85, of Hurricane, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 21, 2026.

Born to the late Cleo and Dorothy Smalley, Nellie was a devoted homemaker who took great pride in caring for her home and family. She was a graduate of Poca High School, where she was honored as Miss Poca Dot. Known for her meticulous nature, 

Nellie enjoyed keeping everything neat, organized, and spotless. She was a faithful attendee of St. John United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, Nellie was preceded in death by her husbands, Gary Fisher and Roger Gautier; and her beloved son, Timmy Fisher.

She leaves to cherish her memory her two brothers, Chester (Ruth) Smalley and Dexter (Brenda) Smalley; as well as her cherished niece and nephews, along with many extended family members and friends who will miss her greatly.

A tribute to Nellie’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 27, 2026, at Gatens-Harding Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Delbert Hawley officiating. Burial will follow at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home.

Nellie will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her dedication to her family, and the pride she took in making every place she called home warm, welcoming, and beautifully cared for. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
