Darren Ray McGraw, 62, of Sissonville, passed away on June 18, 2026, at Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston, West Virginia, surrounded by family and friends. He was a Christian and, during his illness, found comfort in knowing he was ready to go home to be with the Lord.
Darren was born on August 8, 1963. From an early age, he developed a passion for collecting watches and riding motorcycles. Known for his love of doing wheelies, some of his friends affectionately nicknamed him “The Wheelie King.”
He worked as a truck driver throughout his life and was known to many of his co-workers as “Big D.” He especially loved working for Shamblin Stone, where he was most recently employed.
He was preceded in death by his father, Orville McGraw, and his son, Bryson Burdette.
He will be greatly missed by his beloved wife of six and a half years, Sandi Shamblin McGraw; his mother, Wanda McGraw; his sons, Derrick McGraw and Dalton McGraw (Heather); his sister, Rita McGraw Short (Randy); his niece, Jennifer Asbury (Travis); his nephew, Steven Miller (Jamie); his cherished fur babies, Gracie, Bear, and Maggie; his mother- and father-in-law, Sonny and Earl Shamblin; his brothers- and sisters-in-law, Larry Shamblin (Wylene), Dan Shamblin (Lisa), and Kevin Shamblin (Jamie); and many extended family members, including cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston for the excellent care, compassion, and respect shown to Darren and to his family and friends.
In accordance with Darren’s wishes, he will be cremated.
A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Calvary Nazarene Church on Lakewood Drive in Sissonville, West Virginia.
