Daniel Leo Rhodes, 73, of Hamlin passed away Sunday, July 26, 2026.
Daniel was a 1970 graduate of St. Albans High School. He moved to Hamlin on October 11, 1982, and was a former Iron Worker for the UMWA. He loved camping, hunting, fishing, and was a good mechanic who loved muscle cars. He really loved watching western movies and tv shows and played the Banjo and Guitar.
He was born on January 19, 1953, the son of the late Lee “Onie” and Erna “Maysel” Rhodes. He was also preceded in death by his son Jeremy Allen Rhodes, his sister Iva May “Pixie” Fitzgerald and his nephew Jeff Allen Potter.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his children, son Jamie Dale Rhodes and wife Sherri, daughter Selena Danniell Rhodes Lucas and husband Clark, son Daniel Lee Rhodes and wife Michelle, sister Margret Ann “Margie” Ottensmeyer and husband Rich, ex-wife Dianna Kay Starcher Rhodes, 4 grandkids Corey Rhodes, Shane Rhodes, Jacob Candy, and Lindsy Rhodes, 2 great-grandkids, Cason Rhodes and Hudson Rhodes. He is also survived by his niece Meika Sidebottom.
A Memorial Celebration of Danny’s life will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Cooke Funeral Home, Nitro from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. The family would like to give the opportunity for Danny’s friends and family to talk and tell stories and adventures of their time together with Danny beginning at 2:00 pm.
