James “Jimmy” Hanshaw 75 of Nitro passed away August 6, 2026, after an extended illness.
Jimmy retired from Kanawa County School Board. He was greatly loved and will be missed by everyone. He enjoyed everything to do with the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and mowing grass.
He was preceded in death by his mother Betty Hanshaw Hopkins, father Elmer Hanshaw, brother Thomas Hanshaw, and sister Linda Hanshaw Fetty.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 32 years Connie Hanshaw, children Jay Hanshaw of Alabama, Lynnette Chewning of Sissonville, Kim Shilling of Nitro, Tammie Harper of Cross Lanes, Randy Shilling, Jr. of St. Albans, sister Joyce Bailey of Sissonville, brothers Curtis, Roger, and Jeff Hanshaw all of Charleston. He is also survived by ten grandchildren Kayla, Justin, Lesha, Darian, Destinee, Harmony, Mark, Michael, Paxton and Pasen and twelve great-grandchildren Cali, Adalyn, Liam, Leon, Layla, Louelle, Caleb, Sawyer, Skylar, Jaxson, Lainey Mae, and Serenity.
Honoring Jimmy’s wishes there will be no services.
