John Edward Sanders, 88, of St. Albans, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at his home.
John was a retired employee of Thomas Memorial Hospital and a member of Lett Creek Community Church. He enjoyed working on his car, watching Lifetime movies, and, most of all, spending time with his family. His little dog, Bubby, held a very special place in his heart.
John was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joann Sanders, and his son, William E. Collins.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his grandchildren, Retha Collins and William Collins; and three great-grandchildren, Adriana, Brantley, and Gannon.
A tribute to the life of John will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 17, 2026, at Gatens-Harding Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor David Bailey officiating. Burial will follow at Haven of Rest Memory Gardens in Red House.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home.
John will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
