Verda Faye Canterbury, 86, of Ashford, WV, formerly of Clendenin, WV, passed away at her home on Saturday, April 4, 2026.

She was born August 26, 1939, at Orma, WV (Calhoun County), a daughter of the late John Wesley and Ella Locie Icenhart Anderson.

She enjoyed fishing, quilt-making, working in her flower beds, and wildlife, especially bird watching.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband William Edward Canterbury, two sons Thomas Edward Canterbury and Jackie Lee Canterbury, and 10 of her 11 siblings.

Left to cherish her memory are her children Gary Canterbury of Roane County, WV; Alice Armstrong of Fayetteville, WV; Diana (Curtis) Armstrong of Narrows, VA; Brenda (Roger) Stewart of Boone County, WV; and Peg Hall of Pinnacle, NC; adopted son Toni Myers of Pennsylvania; sister Mary Nichols; 17 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at Stump-Matics Funeral Home, 8539 Elk River Road North, Clendenin, WV, 25045, on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., with Pastor Scott Means officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in King-Mullins Cemetery, Bomont, WV.
