Janet Faye Stocks (Thomas) passed away on April 17, 2026, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, West Virginia, following complications from surgery.
She was born on March 28, 1950, in Nitro, West Virginia, to Denver and Betty Thomas, alongside her beloved twin sister, Janette Eskew. Janet was raised on Goff Mountain Road with her siblings—Jimmy, Carol, Joyce, Bozo, and Joe. She graduated from Nitro High School in 1969.
In 1970, Janet became a devoted single mother to her son, Michael Thomas, whom she loved and cared for deeply throughout her life. She later married her late husband, Bobby Ray Stocks, and together they welcomed a daughter, Crystal Renae Stocks Davis of Hampton, Virginia.
Crystal blessed Janet with three cherished grandchildren—Chandler, Noel, and Harper of Newport News, Virginia—before tragically passing away in 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Janet always carried a deep love for her home state of West Virginia and was grateful to return to Nitro in 2025. During that time, she enjoyed attending her first WVU football game with her son Michael, a moment that brought her great happiness. She also treasured time spent with her oldest grandson, Jamie Thomas, and her great-grandchildren, Jameson and Maylee.
Janet found joy in gardening, working outdoors, and spending time with her family. She was always full of energy and ideas, often keeping her son Michael busy with new projects.
A celebration of Janet’s life will be held at a later date, with arrangements to be announced.
