Angela “Angie” Lynn Shafer, 62, of. Charleston, West Virginia, was born August 26, 1963, and passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at CAMC Memorial due to a sudden illness.

She was a loving mother, devoted daughter, proud grandmother, and cherished aunt whole heart was as generous as it was strong. She touched the lives of everyone who knew her with her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for her family.

Angie’s greatest joy in life was her grandbabies. She adored each of them beyond measure and treasured every moment spent laughing, playing and creating memories together. Her love for them was constant and unconditional—the kind of love that leaves a lasting impression on the heart.

She found peace and happiness in the simple beauty of the outdoors. Whether casting a line while fishing or searching the woods for morels, Angie felt most at home surrounded by nature. Those moments reflected her spirit—patient, grounded and appreciation of life’s quiet blessings.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Eugene D. And Herma Shafer; her maternal grandparents, Paul Coe and Glada Coe Chandler; her significant other, Billy Bishop; and the father of her children and loving friend, Terry “Bear” Gandee.

Angie is survived by her loving parents, James E. Shafer and Pauletta Sue Shafer; her sister, Amy Shafer Jackson; and her brother, Jimmy “Bo” Shafer. She leaves behind her devoted daughters, Megan (Josh) Swiney, Jessica Gandee, and Maria Gandee, who were the pride of her life.

She will be forever cherished by her beloved grandchildren: Alexis Swiney, Lily Swiney, Bella Spencer, Chloe Spencer, Sophia Spencer, Austin Gandee, Rylee Wingett, and Jace Wingett—each of whom brought endless light into her life.

Angie also leaves behind her loving nieces, Amelia (Seth) Roadcap, Kylee Shafer and Emma Shafer; nephews, Cephas (Amy) Evans III, Dylan (Madison) Shafer, and Jacob (Hannah) Shafer. She was proud and a caring aunt who held a special place in the hearts of all her nieces and nephews.

Angie’s life was a testament to devotion—to her parents, her children, her grandchildren, and the extended family. Though her passing leaves a space that can never truly be filled, her love will remain a guiding presence in the hearts of those who knew her.
