It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of Kara Beth McCormick, who gained her heavenly wings on Saturday, May 30, 2026.
Born on July 25, 1980, Kara Beth lived a life filled with love, laughter, adventure, and compassion
.
She graduated from St. Albans High School and proudly served her country as a veteran of the United States Air Force. She traveled and lived in many place, but she treasured the years she spent in Deerfield Beach, Florida. No matter where she was West Virginia was always home and held a special place in her heart.
Kara Beth never met a stranger. She had a larger-than-life personality, a generous spirit, and a heart that was always open to those in need. Whether offering a helping hand, a listening ear, or simply sharing her infectious smile, she made everyone feel loved and valued. Her family and friends will forever remember her strength, her sense of humor, her loyalty, and the way she embraced life with her whole heart.
She was preceded in death by her father, Vincent J. McCormick; her stepfather, Steven C. Fisher; her stepbrother, Stevie Slater; and her beloved nieces, Chelsea McCormick and Cadi McCormick.
Left to cherish her memory are the love of her life, Kevin Canady and beloved dog Daisy Mae of Charleston, WV; her mother, Karen Fisher of East Bank, WV; her sisters, Jeanette Slack (Steve) of Cabin Creek, WV, and Amber Pettry (Jimmy) of Chesapeake, WV; her cherished niece, Raelynn Pettry; her nephews, Ethan Slater, Steven Slack II, Dylan Slack, Josh Slack, and Ethan Slack, her honorary-sister, Amanda Clark; and her honorary nieces, Madisyn Bledsoe and Josalyn Beth Clark of Dawes, WV; as well as many beloved cousins, aunts, uncles, and countless dear friends whose lives were touched by her love and friendship.
In accordance with her wishes, Kara Beth has been cremated. A Celebration of Life will be held on July 25, 2026, her birthday, a fitting day to honor and remember the joy she brought to so many. The family will share additional details once arrangements have been finalized.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Kanawha County Humane Society, a tribute to Kara Beth’s love for animals and her caring nature.
