Richard Eugene Hypes (Hollywood), 62, of Charleston, WV went to heaven on July 1, 2026. God put a wonderful, one of a kind, man here on Earth, January 15,1964 for many reasons. He was born and raised in the wild and wonderful West Virginia.
He graduated from Charleston High School then making a life-long career operating heavy equipment. Hollywood was an awesome guy all around. He taught so many people what’s important in life and how to survive hard times. As he loved life and enjoyed sharing his joy with others. While spending a lot of his time outdoors like riding, hunting, fishing and most importantly with his family and friends.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents Bobby Hypes Sr. and Connie Hypes, nephew Bobby Hypes III and grandson Caleb Sherwood.
He is survived by his wife Teresa Hypes, children, David Francisco (Amber), Dixie Francisco (Josh), Joshua Sherwood, Erica Sherwood (Cody) and Cody Sherwood. Siblings, Bobby Hypes, Jr. (Dianna), Mary (Beth) McCullough and Thomas Hypes. Grandchildren Abigail and Jordyn Francisco, Emily Randoph, Charlie Payne and Crystal Johnston, Karson Sherwood and Braelynn Sherwood, Xarria Mullins-Cole and Xavier Mullins, Jenna and Joshua Randolph, great grandchild Regan Randolph, niece Scarlet Hypes and great niece, Evelyn Hannum. Along with many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Hollywood will be remembered by many for his humor, love, care and wisdom. While he loved the outdoors, cooking for family and friends was also enjoyed. He was most happy when he seen others smile. Having a heart like no other and patience that stretched for miles. God broke the mold after making this man. His memories will forever live in the hearts of those who knew him. His wisdom will be passed down to many generations to come because of his awesomeness and true-blue soul. Richard will remain “forever in our heart and never forgotten.”
To honor Hollywood’s wishes there will be a Celebration of Life at a later date.
