Ayden Scott Huffman

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Ayden Scott Huffman, 17, of Elkview, West Virginia, who went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 1, 2026.

Ayden was a bright light in the lives of everyone who knew him. A proud student of Pinch Elementary, Elkview Middle School, and Herbert Hoover High School, he brought energy, determination, and joy to every chapter of his young life.

On the football field at Herbert Hoover, Ayden was a dedicated athlete. He proud of his efforts in helping secure Herbert Hoover High School’s 2024 WVSSAC State Football Championship, placing runner-up in the AAA division. He was also a standout member of the school’s 1,000 lbs Weightlifting Club, where his strength, discipline, and work ethic shone through.

Outside of school, Ayden found peace and excitement in the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved spending time with his friends, pushing himself in the gym, and unwinding with gaming sessions.

Ayden’s warm smile, competitive spirit, and kind heart left an impression on all who crossed his path. He lived life fully and left behind countless memories of joy, friendship, and adventure.

He is survived by his loving parents Dustin Huffman and Christy Gibson, his brothers Carter and Ayra Huffman and little sister Addie Huffman.

He is also survived by his grandparents Gary and Cheryl Huffman of Elkview and his aunts Lora Huffman and Nikki McCubbin.

Though his time with us was far too short, Ayden spirit will live on in the stories we tell, the games we play, the weights we lift, and the rivers we fish. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered as a beloved son, brother, grandson, student, teammate, and friend.

A private family service and burial was held at Hafer Funeral Home with Pastor Lee Swor officiating.

A memorial service will be held at Herbert Hoover High School at a later date.
