Carol Jean Dixon of Scott Depot, West Virginia, passed away peacefully in her home on July 7, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Carol was born on March 12, 1936, to Dennis Fisher and Lessie Fisher, who preceded her in death. As her family reflects on God’s faithfulness throughout her ninety years, they are reminded of His promise: “Worship the Lord your God, and his blessing will be on your food and water… I will give you a full life span” (Exodus 23:25-26). Carol’s life was a testimony to that faithfulness, blessed with a loving family, a steadfast faith, and the joy of seeing generations follow behind her.

A lifelong Christian, Carol dedicated her life to serving Jesus Christ. At the age of 12, she gave her heart to the Lord during Sunday School at Bias Chapel in Pocatalico. From that day forward, her faith became the foundation of her life. She faithfully served wherever needed, supporting ministry in countless ways throughout the years. She was known as a prayer warrior whose unwavering trust in God touched innumerable lives. Many who knew Carol can testify to the love of Christ they experienced through her witness and friendship.

Carol was, above all, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. As a young woman, she made history as the first Head Majorette at Sissonville High School, graduating with the Class of 1954. One year later, she married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Delmar Dixon, on June 24, 1955. and the joy of watching their family grow across four generations.

She is survived by her husband, Delmar Dixon; her daughters, Tracy Renee Dixon and Tammy Beth Samples (Danny); her grandchildren, Caleb Daniel Samples (Borden), Jonah Dixon Samples (Carli), and Nathan David Samples (fiancée Abby); and her treasured great-granddaughters, Dove Victoria Samples and Naomi Beth Samples. She leaves behind not only cherished family members, but also countless friends and the many people whose lives were strengthened by her faith and influenced by her example.

Her grandchildren knew her lovingly as “Nana.” Some of their fondest memories were walking to her house on Saturday mornings to enjoy pancakes and returning home from church for family dinners, which are just a couple of the countless examples of her creating a home filled with warmth and prayer that has impacted generations.

Carol was a faithful member of New Life Church in Huntington, West Virginia, where she worshiped and served with joy. Her life reflected the virtues described in Proverbs 31:10–31, as she faithfully cared for her family, served others with a willing heart, and feared the Lord above all else.

Carol’s legacy of faith, prayer, love, and service will continue to inspire all who knew her. While she will be deeply missed, her family rejoices in the assurance that she is now in the presence of her Savior whom she faithfully served throughout her life.

A tribute to the life of Carol will be 2:00 PM Thursday July 9, 2026 at Gatens-Harding Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Darrell Huffman officiating.  Burial will follow in Floral Hills Garden of Memories, Sissonville.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
