Samra Jo Mullins, 63, of Elkview went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 19th, 2026.
Her kind heart, gentle spirit, and love for life touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. She found her greatest joy in the outdoors. Whether she was horseback riding, camping, fishing, kayaking, or simply taking in the beauty of nature, she had a remarkable ability to see beauty in everything around her. She lived life with appreciation, adventure, and a deep love for God’s creation.
Family meant everything to her, and enjoyed every moment spent together. Known for her compassionate heart, she was always willing to help those in need—whether they had two legs or four. She had a special gift with animals and devoted many years to caring for horses and the dogs she loved so dearly. Her kindness extended beyond her own home through her service as a dedicated member of the West Virginia K-9 Search and Rescue team, where she selflessly gave her time to help others. She also proudly served her community as a certified EMT with Clay County Ambulance Service.
Above all, she was a devoted mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Michael Anthony Mullins, who was truly the light of her life. Though the pain of losing him never left her heart, neither did the immeasurable love she had for him. Also preceded in death by her mother, Rebecca Joyce Mullins; father, David Wayne Mullins; grandmother, Francis McElfresh; and grandfather Tully McElfresh.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Chelsea (Chancee) Hensley; her adored grandsons, Dalton Mullins, Cole Mullins and Beau Hensley; her brother, Todd (Lisa) Mullins; her sisters, Heather (Robby) Ratliff, Missy Mullins, Selena (Mark) Delesky, Jennifer Own Malecki, and Lora Funfstuck-Wudel; along with many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, and countless friends whose lives were forever touched by her kindness and love.
She will be remembered for her gentle soul, unwavering compassion, infectious smile, and the way she made everyone feel welcome and loved. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched through her kindness, service, and unconditional love.
She leaves behind her family, friends, and all whose lives were forever changed by her love and generosity. While our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing she is reunited with her son and is now at peace. Her memory will forever be treasured, and her spirit will continue to live on in every sunrise, every quiet trail, every flowing river, and every horse that runs free.
A memorial service will be 4:00pm Monday, July 27, 2026 at Hafer Funeral Home.
Visitation will be on Monday, July 27, 2026 from 3:00pm to 4:00pm at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Melton Cemetery, Elkview, WV.
